Our mission is to be the leader in pain care and education for our patients and services across the Stockport region.

We achieve this through providing a friendly team of specialist multidisciplinary experts in all aspects of pain assessment, treatment and management, including:

I have been a pain management consultant for over 10 years. I am the lead consultant for Stockport Pain Management Services and the lead clinician for post surgical chronic pelvic pain management.

I joined Stepping Hill as a pain management consultant in September 2017. I have a keen interest in the application of biopsychosocial pain management using multidisciplinary techniques.

Specialist Nurse in Pain Management

I have been qualified as a nurse since 1993 and specialise in pain management. A big part of my role is to help in educating and offering support in teaching people living with chronic pain to become better managers of their long term health condition. I provide this help either on an individual basis or in a group Pain Management Programme.

Specialist Physiotherapist

I have been a chartered physiotherapist for 19 years gaining a breadth of experience in different fields. I have a passion for helping people regain the confidence to move and live fulfilled lives despite persistent pain. I joined the pain management service as a pain specialist physiotherapist in 2018. I see patients individually and am a member the multidisciplinary team running the Stockport Pain Management Programme.

Dr Paul Hood

Chartered Clinical Psychologist

I came to work in Stockport Pain Management Service in 2018, and have worked in the NHS for approaching two decades. My specialist interests are in supporting people with physical and neurological health conditions. I lead our multidisciplinary Pain Management Programme and also provide individual support, consultation, supervision and research.

Specialist Occupational Therapist in Pain Management

I joined the pain management service as a pain specialist occupational therapist in 2019. I am passionate about improving a patients understanding of pain and the factors that contribute to their individual pain experience with a focus on a self-management approach to improve people’s quality of life and activity levels despite the presence of pain.

Working as part of a team of three, we undertake all relevant areas of administration, booking of appointments and putting waiting lists together for the consultants. Keeping all areas of work in-house, helps the Pain Service run smoothly and efficiently.
